Hoboken NJ Steven’s University Engagement Photographer: Hannah + Michael Part 1

Hoboken NJ Steven’s University Engagement Photographer: Hannah + Michael Part 1

Nami Dadlani

It is not often New Yorkers chose to venture out of the city but that was the plan of action for Hannah and Michael’s engagement session.  Michael went to school at Stevens University and lived in Hoboken when the pair met met and during Hannah’s first trip out to Jersey  they took a tour of both Stevens and the piers.  It held special memories for them both. Don’t let the these two fool you. They are extremely romantic. Especially Michael.  Their first date was at the Famous New York City eatery, The Mermaids Inn. They had oysters and wine, followed by a long walk around the city. The romantic part? Michael’s proposal was themed around their first date and favorite food, oysters.

Michael’s version of the proposal: For Hannah’s birthday, we planned a trip to Prince Edward Island (PEI) for their International Shellfish Festival. After two days featuring oyster tastings, shucking competitions, culinary demos, and a seafood chowder cook-off; we traveled out to Raspberry Point (the location of Hannah’s favorite oysters). It was here that I promptly chickened out after seeing Hannah wading into the water, in her DVF dress and stylish rubber galoshes, to “sneak up” on the “sleeping” oysters.Later that day, I took her for a stroll in a Charlottetown park just before sunset. I popped the question under a gazebo immediately after Hannah removed her newly purchased Pirate Hat.  Of course, Hannah said yes!

Hannah’s version of the proposal: We went out to see the oyster farms in Prince Edward Island and afterwards, we went for a walk in the park. While I was attempting to put on a pirate hat that I recently had purchased for my nephew, he sternly “encouraged” me to take it off. When I turned around to ask, “why”, he was on one knee. He began to say a lot of words that I am sure were amazing and beautiful but I was in shock. After he asked me to marry him for the second time, I said, “yes!”. For the record, I thought I said “yes” the first time. I don’t think we stopped smiling for days and days.
